What are inductive and deductive reasoning? How do they work? You use them every day.

For example you can easily find the next two numbers in the pattern, "1,10,18,25,..." (They are 31 and 36). But can you find the answer to a problem like "Identify the hypothesis and the conclusion in the statement: If tardy 4 times, the student must do detention" or given the conjuncture, "Tony has been tardy 4 times." Can you give the conclusion to the conjecture? And an even more important question, how do you distinguish between the two? This is what we will attempt to show you on these pages.
