How can understanding and using linear functions help you outside of school?
Do you have a cell phone? Do you like to travel? Here is a real life example of linear functions:
Cell Phones
Pretty much everyone has or has used a cell phone. If you pay $30 a month for your cell phone and 10 cents a minute for monthly usage, we could represent the cost of your monthly bill as a linear equation of a function.
Cost = 0.10minutes + 30
Cost is 30 dollars plus 10 cents times the number of minutes you use your cell phone.
