Learn This!
2011 Team Project Question for WSMC
Welcome to Almira/Coulee-Hartline High School's Learn This! web-based learning guide.
This learning guide was designed to give students the opportunity to learning three different concepts in mathematics. The following mathematic concepts are presented throughout this website. Each of the concepts follow the "5 E Learning Cycle Model" introduced by Roger Bybee of the Biological Science Curriculum Study (BSCS). The 5 Es are Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate.-
Engage: This stage assess the prior knowledge of the learner and helps the learner become engaged in a new concept. The aim is to organize students' thinking addressing the learning targets and mathematic standard.
-
Explore: This stage gives the learner some experiences targeting the learning outcome. This experience provides a common basis for all students.
-
Explain: This stage gives the learner the opportunity to explain their own understanding of the concept addressed in the explore stage.
-
Elaborate: During this stage, the learner is challenged to extend their understanding and to practice their learning of the mathematics concept.
- Evaluate: This final stage of the instructional model give a chance for the learner to assess their understanding of the mathematics concept.
Please follow the links below to begin the learning cycle within one of the mathematic concepts. Enjoy!
